Bringing Back 2-4 Flats: A Panel on the Policy Implications and Building/Design Challenges in Chicago

  • Metropolitan Planning Council 140 South Dearborn Street Chicago, IL, 60603 United States (map)

CNU Chicago Event: Our next event delves deep into a treasured residential asset and how it can help retain and expand affordable housing in Chicago. On Tuesday, March 11 at 6 p.m, the Metropolitan Planning Council will partner with us to host Bringing Back 2-4 Flats: A Panel on the Policy Implications and Building/Design Challenges in Chicago.

We’re teaming up with Abundant Housing Illinois and Strong Towns Chicago to learn how to dismantle the structural barriers to preserving and building more of this unique and flexible housing type. Moderated by Steven Vance of Chicago Cityscape, we’ll hear from architect Katherine Darnstadt and broker Nick Serra about what differentiates these projects from others, the challenges of constructing or rehabilitating these buildings, and what policy changes would make it easier to build more 2- and 4-flats in Chicago.
